The first tip is to work from an editorial calendar, using Webmaster Tools keyword data and research completed online for topics you wish to cover for the month. Each day have an idea of what topic you are going to write new content about. Start your day writing new content and scheduling it out for the next publication date you have set.

After you have worked on blog content for the day, spend about one hour on social media networks. You should already have an Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook social media profile setup for your blog. Leave ten engaging comments per social media network on posts that are similar to your blog niche. Spend the next bit of that hour scheduling your social media content for the week, use a program like HootSuite or Buffer to schedule content across all social media platforms.

Next up on organizing your day of blogging is to set aside time to leave comments on other blogs, this builds your blogging community. Spend one hour each day leaving comments on similar niche blogs, being certain to also read other comments and replying to those as a means to build some link backs to your blog and build your online reputation.

Additional tasks that you should set aside time for when learning how to organize your day of blogging are; planning for the upcoming month, thinking about national holidays and how you can use affiliate links to promote products for each holiday and reviewing your analytics to see what keywords are bringing visitors to your blog.  Designate a bit of time within your blogging day to review how well your blog is running, using tools that check the speed and load time of your blog as well as to make sure all plugins are working properly.

Last but certainly not least, for each day that you have new content, add a task to ping your blog to sites like Pingoat.net and Ping.in so that they will automatically notify search engines of your new content. No matter what you do to organize your day of blogging, each day try to learn something new. Be it something about SEO, how to properly organize your blog posts or learn more about using social media to market your blog; take time each day to also learn a new skill or marketing secret that you will implement on your next blogging day.

Google Adsense

Google Adsense is the first step towards monetizing your blog. Simply sign up for a free Google account and start setting up a responsive Adsense ad unit. The reason for setting up a responsive ad unit versus a specific size ad is because people will be using multiple devices to view your blog, such as a tablet or smartphone and responsive ad units allow for the Google Adsense ad unit to change based on whatever device your reader is viewing your blog from.  If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog, then you can easily use a plugin to install Google Adsense ad units while staying within the terms and conditions of being a Google Adsense publisher.

Affiliate Marketing

Sign up for Amazon Associates where you essentially become an affiliate for Amazon and can earn commissions off any sales made when someone clicks a text link within your blog post. Programs like ClickBank, Commission Junction (CJ) and ShareASale offer a wide range of products and programs that you can also apply to become an affiliate for. This will enable you to have a wide range of products or programs to blog about while inserting a text link based on keywords you have within your blog posts. The key to affiliate marketing is to have 3-4 affiliate links within each blog post as a means to earn a consistent residual income from affiliate programs.

Sign up With Sponsored Campaign Companies

There is a wide range of companies like Bloggin’ Mamas that offer bloggers a chance to sign up for an account and apply for various sponsored campaigns. This is an excellent way to connect with brands through a platform and earn some huge money on a residual basis, while most of these platforms will pay net 60 or net 90, some pay sooner and either way they provide you a means to earn a residual income. This method will also increase visitor counts, which puts you in a position to earn more with sponsored campaign companies.

There you have it, a list of 4 ways to monetize your blog in a simple, yet straight forward way; Google Adsense, Affiliate Marketing, Sponsored Campaign Companies and Using Your Stats. While the list can go on and on with ways to monetize your blog, the above 4 ways to monetize your blog is a great start towards your venture in earning a residual income with blogging.

It was really great getting to know the BlogginMamas crew much better during their #BlogNewbie twitter chat earlier this month. I truly wished I had this kind of access to professional mom bloggers a decade ago when I first blogging. I remember your questions so vividly as if it were yesterday! That’s why this blog tour is so important to me. I’m eager to tell new (and experienced) female bloggers that there are resources to help you get started. For example, networking organizations such as Bloggin Mamas. Hence, the reason I’m so proud they decided to partner with us to make our educational resources available to you!

I’m also quite elated that we share similar 2015 Blogging Goals: Sharing Blogging Tips. Here are two I didn’t see displayed, so I hope you find them helpful:

Keep an Idea Jar or File

Either a literal one on your desktop, or a file folder on your computer. An app such as Evernote is very effective for capturing ideas and saving them for the future.

I personally use Google docs on my computer and on my phone to jot the ideas and Pocket to bookmark and tag research articles. As you read other blog posts and social media updates, you’ll probably find ideas coming to you. Take a minute to clip them and then when it comes time to sit down and write, you’ll have dozens of ideas to choose from.

I literally work from these Google-doc-idea-notes and craft my entire post before I publish on WordPress.

Keep a Keyword File

Similar to the Idea Jar, keep a Keyword File or Excel spreadsheet.  Research keywords that are evergreen for your niche and create a numbered list and a file for them. Evergreen keywords will never go out of date and can be repurposed again and again. Basing your post on one keyword can really help you focus and streamline each post.

When you find yourself struggling for ideas, either pick a keyword from your File at random, or if you like to work under some pressure and excitement, roll at least three dice, add up the total and go write your post about the keyword that comes up at that number along your list.

Blog Posts

Sponsored Blog Posts involve compensating bloggers either with product, money, or both. These are particularly good if you have certain information that needs to get out and certain timelines you have to meet. We vet the bloggers and send them to you for approval. You can decide what types of bloggers you want us to recruit.

Instagram and Snapchat Stories

Influencers are beginning to shift their content creation to stories, which are short-form videos and images pieced together to create a “story” of their day. While stories disappear on both platforms within 24 hours, Instagram offers the ability for influencers to “highlight” their stories on the top of their profile so that it can be viewed for a longer period of time. Instagram also allows certain influencers with more than 10K followers to use a “swipe up” feature, which enables them to include links in their stories. We can coordinate sponsored campaigns on these platforms.

Product Reviews and Features

We can coordinate review campaigns, in which you send your products to bloggers in exchange for a review post on their blog or social media profiles. Please note that campaigns in which the blogger receives both product and money, or a high-value product, will generally perform better than product-only campaigns. Additionally, as per Amazon TOS, we can not require them to review on Amazon.

Experiential Reviews

We can coordinate reviews of experiences like using certain apps or sites, eating at a restaurant, watching a movie, participating in an activity, and more!

Blog Giveaways

This is an affordable add-on to reach a large audience; while also gaining deliverables like increased visitors to your website and social profiles. We specialize in running “Group Giveaways,” which involves just one giveaway and one prize total that is shared on several Blogs simultaneously to increase the reach and effectiveness of the giveaway.

YouTube Videos

More and more mom bloggers are expanding into offering sponsored Youtube videos as part of their services, we are also expanding into offering more Youtube video campaigns. Live Events Focused on Brand. We work with live events in several different ways, so the pricing may vary. Price determining factors can include items like such as recruiting for a pre-existing event or co-organizing an event together. Pricing factors also include location, number of bloggers, posting requirements, and blogger reach requirements, and similar parameters.

Sampling Events

These kinds of events are usually conducted with food, but can be conducted with other products as well. We assist you in coordinating an event in which bloggers can try out samples of products and give feedback. We can also coordinate events with multiple products around a theme, which is perfect for an agency wishing to showcase several clients.

Media/Press/Group Trip

We can assist CVB’s, hotels, theme parks, destinations, and more to coordinate media/ press/ group trips to showcase their location. For family travel clients, we also offer additional promotion through our family travel blog and twitter chat.

The most important thing to remember is that your readers can tell if you are being authentic. If you don’t really mean what you are saying, people will catch on immediately, and they won’t want to hear what you are writing. The best way to make sure that you are always being authentic is to write about what your passionate about. If your passion shows in your writing, people will sense that, and that kind of passion is contagious!

This is a great tip from @Notnowmomsbusy! Building relationships with readers, brands, and other bloggers is how you get ahead in the blogging world. People want to know the real you. It is just as important as great content that people keep coming back for!

Take the time to learn about and invest in proper SEO strategies! One of these strategies is having a searchable title that is on topic. Make sure that people can find your site when they are searching for what you are writing about. If you are writing about cute puppies, you don’t want you title to be “cute things I like” – no one who is looking for cute puppies will be able to find you! Thanks for this reminder @Trimestertalk!

At the end of the day, writing is just about expressing your feelings and emotions. Even in technical writing, you are trying to get people interested in what you have to say. Describe those feelings and emotions to your readers. Make them feel what you feel! That is how you bring people in!

People want to know you take your blog seriously. Never skimp on content. You should always take the time and effort to write about something that people want to read about. Your readers will be able to tell the difference between something that you but your heart into, and something you just threw together in the last minute. Take the time and produce something worthwhile. Your readers will thank you!

Take the time to focus on SEO. Make your website and your individual blog posts SEO friendly. SEO is how you make your website and content come up in searches naturally or “organically” without paying for an advertisement. Basically, it’s how you connect your content with the readers who are looking for it. This is probably the most important step to getting your content seen on the web.

Let’s face it, as Bloggin’ Mamas we are ALL busy. There is always going to be something else we could be doing. To-do lists are always going to be miles and miles long. If you are going to commit to producing valuable, SEO friendly, useful content for your readers this year you can to commit the time to doing it. Maybe it’s 3o minutes a week, maybe it’s an hour a day. Commit to the time and stick to it! Set a timer and force yourself to work for that period of time. You might not get everything all done, but it is a great way to keep yourself from getting distracted by… well LIFE!

It’s a new year, and new you, and time for a new start on your blog! Whether you are a new blogger, or a veteran blogger looking for a new start, the new year is the perfect time to kick it into high gear and make a commitment to your blog.

Create an Editorial Calendar

This is your plan for the year. It can be as specific as you want it to be. Make broad topics for each month, or schedule specific posts you plan to write. Make sure to set and meet your scheduled deadlines. You are running your own business; you need to hold yourself accountable. Here is an example of an editorial calendar for the year. Pick your topic for each month, and the deadline for submitting or posting each article. Remember! You CAN write your posts ahead of time and schedule them to post in the future. This will save you a ton of time in the long-run and it will keep your readers coming back for more original content.

Create a goal-setting sheet

You should set at least 3 major goals for your blog over the next year. If you don’t have a goal in mind, you don’t have anywhere to go! You need a vision in order to achieve success. Your goals should be realistic, measureable, and achievable. Having clearly defined goals is what is going to help you focus on what you need to spend your time on over the next year. Otherwise, you might as well be wandering around in the dark! If you have been blogging for a while already, start by looking back over the previous year. What worked, what didn’t? Expand from there. Each of your goals should have specific objectives to be measure the goals success. For example, if your goal is to gain more followers on Facebook, specifically how many would you like to gain, and by when. Maybe you would like to gain 10 new followers each month for the next 3 months. Then, each objective should have an action. How specifically do you plan to achieve this? You can start your goal planning using the following goals sheet:

Create a Pinterest Vision Board

Gather a ton of images, visuals, motivational quotes, and pick-me-ups for when you are feeling like you don’t know where to go next.

Pin things like:

• What would you like to blog about?
• What would you like to learn about?
• What kind of images and quotes inspire you?
• Where do you see yourself traveling?
• What do you imagine your home office looking like?
• What are you blogging goals?
• What foods do you enjoy?
• What do you like to do with your family?
• Anything that inspires you to be a better blogger!
