A couple years back I was present when my dad had a stroke. We have a safety fair at work every year and it so happened that FAST was introduced to me. I think it helped me step into action I told my mom to call for an ambulance because I think my dad was having a stroke. I don’t think I helped save his life but I know learning the tools helped him get help faster.

Thanks to the acronym FAST, I’ll be able to know right away if someone is suffering from a stroke. I’ve never met nor know anyone who has suffer one. But it’s always good to know the warning signs.

My father-in-law had a stroke last year, my husband told me he started mumbling eating his words, which was not normal. He got hospitalized for a week and doctors put stent by his heart. Recovery went fine, and he’s back to normal sleep.

Warning signs? Face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty and call 911 if you see any of these signs.

Actually, I was recently on stroke watch while in the ER. I had an infection in my brain that spread from my sinuses and dangerously high, uncontrolled blood sugar from undiagnosed diabetes. So I had a crash course in the warning signs and what to watch for.
